Buying our DSLR

Our very own DSLR !!!!!
Every time I saw someone using a DSLR for photography, I wanted one for myself. I simply wanted it, but had never even gone into the shop to even look at it. Not that I had never handled the camera, infact I had used my friends cameras to shoot some nice pictures. I always used to think whether I would really pursue the photographic interest that much to invest in a DSLR.
However, today all these questions have just vanished, reason - well my husband just bought our DSLR !!
Supratim was looking at these different options of DSLR since last two months. We had even gone to look at Canon 400 D and had liked it very much. Had almost finalized on this camera. However, the release of Canon 1000 D has stopped the production of Canon 400D.
So, now we had the options of Canon 450 D, Nikon D60 or Canon 400D. And we finalized on Nikon D60. Bought our camera from Pixetra. Its really a very good place if you want to look around different cameras, try shooting with these, comparing pictures and stuff. We were in this shop for almost 1 and half hour. The person there was very supportive, we had taken our own SD card with us, and we clicked a lot of photos with the Canon 450D and Nikon D60. The salesman even offered us to compare the pictures in the showroom itself on their Mac machine.
It was really a great experience in the shop, and I would definitely recommend the Bangalorians to try out this shop if they are interested in buying cameras or lens.

Well, now keep watching this blog for pictures shot by us. Wont be great at the starting, but we hope to keep getting better at this as time progresses !!!

CBI's drive to anti-corruption

CBI's drive to anti-corruption

My blog today is about the best move that has been taken by the CBI. They would now be taking the help of the common man to fight corruption. If the government has to find the corrupt employees then they have to ask for help from the people of the country. These are the very people who have to actually face this corruption. So in my opinion CBI has a taken a very great step indeed.
The fact now remains whether CBI would really be able to curb the corruption in the city - who all would be facing the CBI's wrath and who all would be able to escape out of this with a little pressure at the right points.
I am not a person who has much political views, but till now whatever I have seen and heard, I have been led to believe that 90% of the politicians are corrupt. I hope that I am wrong, but I do not know for sure.
CBI's move for fighting corruption has made me feel better about all this. It feels like atleast we have taken the step forward. And because the common man is involved in this, he would have a chance to showcase the real picture out there in the world. It then remains the responsibility of the CBI to investigate and validate the complaints, and punish the corrupt people accordingly.

Somehow I am having this feeling - we might just be having a lot of vacancies in a lot of government departments after this anti-corruption drive is completed !!!!

Please inform CBI-Bangalore about officials of Govt of India demanding bribes or being in possession of huge assets at 080-2333 2726.

Madikeri - South Karnataka

Day 1 : Bangaolore -- mysore road -- srirangapatna -- hunsur road -- titmati -- gonikoppal -- ponnampet -- Irpu Falls -- kutta -- Nagarhole
Nagarhole -- kutta -- ponnampet -- gonikoppal -- virajpet -- madikeri

Started from bangalore quite early at around 7.30, and moved swiftly on mysore road. Reached srirangapatna without even noticing. It was smooth going until we missed the turn at hunsur towards nagarhole, and so had to travel via titmati,gonikoppal,ponnampet... Reached Irpu falls after a lot of winding roads and a lot of asking-around for the way. Road was poor once we left the state highway. Had a flat tyre at irpu falls, and had to replace it with the spare tyre i had, luckily that had some air left.
Visited the rameshwara temple at the base of irpu falls. Headed towards irpu falls.
Started for Nagarhole from irpu via kutta. Had the tyre puncture repaired at kutta, actually we had to replace the tube itself. Then reached nagarhole national park at around 3.30. Next safari was at 4, and we had to reach madikeri before dark, so skipped the safari and instead shot the spotted dears that we saw inside the park. Asked directions at kutta, and left for madikeri.
Reached gonikoppal at around 4.30 and had lunch, Chappati and egg-bhurji, and coffee in Classic restaurant, nothing so classic about that, but decent food.
Touched virajpet on way, entered a one-way, asked directions again and finally got the madikeri road.
Reached madikeri at around 6.30 and checked into hotel hill view at 7.

Day 2 : Madikeri and around.
Started at 8.30. Had breakfast at hotel new paris, nearby. This time, appam and potato-bhaji.
Visited Abby falls and then headed towards thal-cauvery.
Stopped on way to take snaps on way to thalcauvery. Climbed up at thalcauvery to saw other mountain ranges, came back and stopped near bhagmadala at hotel mayura-kstdc to have lunch. Had chappati, rice, sambar, rasam, papad, the typical kannada thali. Saw bhagmandala from the way, and headed for the hotel.
Took rest at hotel, and the went to see Raja's seat in the evening.

Day 3 : Madikeri -- Nisargadham -- Veerbhoomi -- Golden Temple

Checked out of hotel early at 8.30 and after having appams at nearby hotel new paris, we started for kushalnagar.
Stopped on way at nisargdhama, spent some time feeding the deeers, sambars, and also the rabbits.
Entered kushalnagar, and checked in at veerbhoomi tourist village. Had lunch here and took rest.
Visited Namdroling monsatery , also known as the golden temple at bylakuppe, 3 KMs from here.
Came back to veerbhoomi and saw the cultural program of the tourist village, performed by local artists and folk singers/dancers. Had dinner at the resort restaurant.

Day 4 : Went to dubare, harangi dam, and then returned home.
